An overseas job consultant firm that was set up about two months ago at Rama Talkies has downed its shutters, leaving over 40 gullible aspirants in a fix.
According to Three Town Police Station SHO Appalaraju, Santosh Siva from Kerala and Sai Sridhar from Chennai launched the firm --Fly Sparrow Job Consultant -- at a shop on the Rama Talkies Road and attracted job aspirants by distributing pamphlets. The duo also employed about five persons to give the office a corporate look.
“Last week they informed the employees that they were going out of station to process the visas and so far there has been no contact. Apprehending foul play, the job aspirants lodged a complaint with the police on Monday,” said the SHO.
The duo promised jobs in Brunei, Singapore and Australia. For Brunei and Singapore, they charged about Rs. 4,000 to 5,000 for processing per application and for Australia the rate was Rs. 1.6 lakh.
In total, about 47 persons have approached the police so far and lodged their complaints. It is estimated that they have made about Rs. 20 lakh from these 47 people. But sources in the police say that they had flown after making about Rs. 3 crore and still many complainants are yet to come forward. The police have booked a cheating case under Section 420 IPC and are investigating.
