Rich tributes paid to Prakasam

The 144th birth anniversary of combined AP’s first Chief Minister 'Andhra Kesari' Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu was celebrated on Tuesday all over the district.

State government has declared Prakasam’s birth anniversary as State event and all government offices and establishments organised the programme on their respective premises.

Immense contributions recalled

Photos or statues of Prakasam were garlanded and speakers recalled Prakasam’s contribution to the freedom struggle and to AP. Collector Pravin Kumar garlanded the statue of Prakasam at Asselmetta and a photo in the conference hall of the Collectorate. Vice-Chairman of VUDA T. Babu Rao Naidu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Prateep Kumar and other officials were present.

At the City Congress Committee office, general secretary of APCC Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and others garlanded a photo of Prakasam and recalled his service to the nation and the undivided AP.

The Bala Vikas Foundation has organised a programme at the Govt. Special Home for Girls. MLC M.V.S. Sarma was the chief guest. Secretary of BVF Narava Prakasa Rao and others were present. Sweets and books were distributed to the girls.

Principal of Andhra Medical College S.V. Kumar presided over a meeting held on the college premises.
