Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao found garbage heaps in a street behind Poorna Market on the road leading to the stadium on Saturday morning.

The Minister was happy that the Poorna Market road was quite clean. But the situation on the other road quite disappointed him.

The drain at Durgalamma temple was flowing at a few feet without being cleared. The stench was unbearable. He pulled up the sanitary officials concerned.

Accompanied by Joint Collector J. Nivas, the Minister was on his way to the wholesale fruit market to see for himself whether any artificial ripening agents were being used.

Fruit merchants told him that the fruit were brought from other parts of the State and country.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao peeled an apple to see whether it had wax coating on it.
