As per the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, the Visakhapatnam and Krishna districts stand in the first and second positions respectively in terms of per capita income.
Interestingly, the positions remained the same in the past five years ending 2015-16, claims a press statement from the government.
All the sectors in the State have registered a considerable growth and this has improved the people’s standard of living.
However, there was no considerable change in the status of the economic profiles of the districts.
The per capita income of Visakhapatnam was Rs. 1,05,362 in 2011-12 and it was Rs. 1,40,628 during the fiscal that ended in March 2016.
Whereas, the per capita income in Krishna district was Rs. 81,851 in 2012 and it has scaled up to Rs. 1,40,593 in 2016.
The number of districts with Rs 1 lakh per capita income have doubled to eight in the last one year. East Godavari, West Godavari, Nellore, Guntur, Prakasam and Chittoor have registered over one lakh per capita income while, Kadapa (Rs. 91,888), Anantapur (Rs. 89,084), Kurnool (Rs. 88, 308), Vizianagaram (Rs. 86,223) and Srikakulam (Rs. 74,638) were lagging with below one lakh income.
