Notification for GITAM Admission Test (GAT) for admission into engineering, architecture, and pharmacy courses in GITAM University for the academic year 2016-17, was released on Saturday by Vice-Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam.
Addressing a press conference, he said students interested in taking up undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, pharmacy, and architecture can logon to the website,www.gitam.edu, and apply for GAT online.
Students can also purchase a hard copy of the application form from counters in Union Bank, Indian Bank, and Karur Vysya Bank.
For the first time, the university has given the facility for online payment of application fee.
Giving details, Director of Admissions Narendra said that the last date for receipt of filled-in application form is April 2. The online slot booking date will be open from April 11 to 15.
Hall-tickets for the admission test can be downloaded from April 11 onwards. The window for the online test will be open from April 19 to May 8, and the results will be announced on May 16.
The test will be conducted for admission into nine B.Tech and 16 M.Tech courses, and for UG and PG courses in pharmacy and architecture in the university’s three campuses located at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
The test will be based on 100 multiple choice questions in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, and the test will be held in 44 centres across India.
“Though one has to write GAT for admission into architecture courses, one has to clear either NATA or IIT-JEE also,” said Prof. Narendra.
On the new programmes, the Vice-Chancellor said that M.Tech in data sciences would be launched in Visakhapatnam campus and M.Tech in computer- aided design and manufacturing engineering in Hyderabad campus.
“The university has already migrated to the choice based credit system and has initiated incubation centres. Details of scholarships and stipends have been uploaded onto the website,” Pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana said.
Principal of College of Science and Technology Lakshmiprasad, Principal of Pharmacy College Ganapathi, Principal of College of Architecture Mohan, and Registrar Potharaju were present.
