Two women were killed after lightning struck them at Ramudivalasa village in Bobbili mandal around 4.30 p.m. on Thursday. According to information, the women -- B. Polamma (50) and M. Narayanamma (30) -- were working in a farm when lightning struck them. While Polamma was killed on the spot, Narayanamma died on way to the village.

The entire district that had been reeling under severe heat wave conditions for the last 48 hours experienced strong gales and sharp showers in some places bringing the much-needed relief to the people. The gales, however, uprooted hoardings and damaged roofs of a few houses. Power supply was disrupted in some areas.
