Give preference to Vizag steel, CM urged

: In a rare show of unity, all the trade unions of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Friday asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to accord preferential treatment for use of steel produced by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited.

The unions represented to Mr. Naidu during his visit to Ukku Club to lay the foundation stone for a medical devices manufacturing park that RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, was incurring losses due to market sluggishness and flooding of cheap steel from China.

Recognised union president Mantri Rajasekhar said Mr. Naidu gave a patient hearing and promised them to look into their suggestions. On captive mines, he told the delegation that he would allot iron ore mines if RINL came forward to set up a pelletisation plant.
