Expo held on fire safety

An exhibition of the equipment used in fire-fighting operations was held by the AP Fire Services Department at Suryabaugh here on Monday to mark the inaugural of the National Fire Safety Week.

The general public only know the fire tenders and use of water to put out fires. The exhibition was an attempt to create awareness on the equipment and safety gear used by fire-fighting personnel to put out fire and to rescue trapped persons, Station Fire Officer M. Sanjeeva Rao said.

Different types of fire extinguishers, cutting equipment, hydraulic jacks, power saw, hydraulic pumps, fire suit, nozzles of different types and hydraulic cutters were on display. Fireman V. Pothu Raju said that cutter could be used to clear building material and save victims trapped under the debris, the power saw to cut trees that fall across the road.
