BSNL mega mela on Aug. 30

August 24, 2016 09:59 am | Updated 10:13 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the last mega mela for distribution of free BSNL SIM, the public sector telecom service provider is coming out with another mela on August 30.

Over 7,000 SIMs were distributed on a single day in Visakhapatnam Telecom District during the mega mela held in July. “Visakhapatnam secured 7 place at the All-India level in the distribution of free SIMs and we are geared for the next round of free SIM distribution and are optimistic of a similar response”, Senior General Manager Nalini Verma told the media here on Tuesday.

BNSL has introduced several innovative schemes for the promotion of landline services. The ‘LL 49’ plan, introduced during the recent Independence Day, was intended to draw new landline customers. Under this plan, new customers would have to pay fixed monthly charges of Rs.49 for the first six months after which their number would be converted to the General Plan.

There would be no free calls under this plan and the call charges to BSNL network would be Re.1 and to other networks Re.1.20 per unit. There would be no installation charges. The subscribers under this plan would also enjoy the free night calling facility and free calling on Sundays, like other BSNL landline subscribers.

Broadband speed

The speed for all broadband connections, after reaching the maximum speed limit (FUP), would be 1 Mbps, instead of 512 Kbps. The upgradation was done to enhance customer experience. A new landline plus broadband combo plan (Plan 470), introduced last month, would enable broadband users to get a rent-free landline connection for Rs.470 a month.
