The district administration is initiating measures to provide amenities to tourists on the way to Araku.
On the suggestions made by Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker during his visit to the city in the past, Joint Collector J. Nivas held a meeting with dealers of petrol bunks, located between the city and Araku via Kothavalasa and S. Kota, here on Monday and urged them to provide separate toilets for men and women at the bunks.
The toilets should be neat and clean with washbasins, dust bins and tiles. A soap and towel should be provided for tourists to wash their hands. The dealers should the responsibility of proper maintenance of the toilets. The objective should be to create a proper impression in the minds of tourists on the amenities at tourist places.
Uniform sign boards
Tea/coffee stalls should be set up at all bunks. Soft drinks should also be sold through these outlets. Uniform sign boards should be set up at the petrol bunks to enable tourists to easily identify the available amenities along the route. The dealers brought to the notice of the Joint Collector that the ATMs at Araku were running dry frequently and tourists were facing problems in obtaining cash.
