Expedite land acquisition for highway: MP

February 06, 2017 12:50 am | Updated 12:50 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has asked officials concerned to complete the land acquisition process for the Anandapuram-Anakapalle highway stretch by March.

Of the 900 acres required about 350 acres have been acquired, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.

The Union Government had sanctioned Rs. 2,392 crore for the civil work related to the road and tenders would be finalised if 60 per cent of land required was acquired, he said.

The six-lane highway should be taken up as early as possible in view of the congestion and growing accidents on the highway and the complaints from villagers on the problems they were facing, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.

The 64-km road work includes Sabbavaram-Sheelanagar Port Connectivity road via Amritapuram and Narava.
