64,000 appear for ICET 2016 across State

The AP Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) 2016 was conducted at 138 test centres in 17 Regional Centres across the State on Monday.

This year the attendance was 89.40 per cent with 64,485 out of 72,066 appearing for the test.

Compared to last year, there was drop in number of applications as well as the attendance. For ICET 2015, 78,159 had applied and 72,182 attended (91.65 per cent).

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao picked up the CET code, VTST Green, in a draw of lots at 6 a.m., which was conveyed to all test centres in the State.

He informed that 10,750 MCA seats are available in 159 colleges and 45,697 MBA seats are available in 384 colleges, of which 32,483 MBA seats and 7,792 MCA seats will be filled up under Convener quota. Ranks will be released on May 27 as scheduled, he said.

Compared to last year, the number of colleges offering MCA and correspondingly the number of seats has come down from 18,850 seats in 221 colleges to 159 colleges and 10,750 seats.

But in the case of MBA, the number of seats has gone up from 40,360 available in 407 colleges last year to 45,697 seats in 384 colleges.
