West Godavari district found a place on the City Gas Distribution (CGD) map of the country when the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) approved the allocation of 3,000 Standard Cubic Meters per Day of domestic natural gas to the Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation Limited (APGDC) on Friday.
It is for starting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sale from APGDC’s recently commissioned CNG station in Kovvur.
The allocation of domestic gas for the CGD activities has been a long-standing demand put forth by the Chief Minister and the APGDC.
The MoPNG, according to an official release, has been aggressively pursuing the rollout of CGD networks across the country so as to maximise the reach of CNG for transport and PNG for domestic households.
Joint venture
The APGDC is a joint venture promoted by the GAIL and A.P. Gas Infrastructure Corporation. It is involved in the CGD and other gas-related business activities in the State.
