The Penamaluru Police arrested two persons – Kusam Venkataramana and Nallanagula Durga Prasad – of Kanuru on the charge of threatening and extorting money from two land owners.

According to the police, Gottimukkala Pratap Kumar and Veerapaneni Lakshmi Narayana own two plots at Kanuru village. The accused gave a false advertisement in July this year, stating that they had a deal with land owners to purchase the land and paid some advance. When some buyers tried to purchase the same land, Venkataramana and Durga Prasad prevented the sale by showing the false advertisement. When asked about the cheating, the duo demanded Rs. 1 lakh to allow Pratap Kumar and Lakshmi Narayana to sell the patch and finally they took some amount. Following a complaint lodged by the land owners, police registered a case and arrested the accused on Tuesday. City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang appealed to people pass on information to police in case any trouble.
