City-based Samana Institute of Design Studies (SIDS) on Sunday launched what was touted to be Andhra Pradesh’s first fashion design studio, the ‘S Design Studio’ in the premises of the institute.

The studio space is awash with a splash of bright colours adorned with intricate and innovative designs created exclusively for high-end clients.

Formally inaugurating the facility, Joint Commissioner of Police P. Hari Kumar said such facilities were ‘need of the hour’ for Navyandhra which was emerging as a place with immense potential.

He said Vijayawada city had evolved over the years from the status of a town with new services coming up. With the Government focussed on ushering in all-round development, fashion was a segment with high potential waiting to be tapped.

“With institutions of this standard coming up, the local fashion scene seems all set to grow in a big way,” he said. “More importantly, young girls and women from the several rural pockets in the vicinity can now aspire and achieve a career in fashion designing thanks to the SIDS and its initiatives.”

Woman entrepreneur Jogulamba, who inaugurated the studio’s website, urged Samana Moosavi, CEO and Managing Director of SIDS, to encourage handlooms.
