YSR Congress leader and Nagari MLA R.K.Roja took a dig at Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan saying that the ‘power star’ had failing in questioning the TDP Government on several issues, especially special category status to the AP.
“Pawan has been maintaining strategic silence on several issues. He did not say a word on the government’s failure in achieving special status. Two girls committed suicide in Narayana College at Kadapa, weavers committed suicides in Anantapur district, yet Mr. Pawan did not question nor demand any explanation from the government,” she said while addressing the gathering at the dharna.
“Many farmers have been complaining that they were threatened to part with their lands. But Mr. Pawan is only asking the government not to snatch lands but take them, if they are given voluntarily,” Ms. Roja said.
A few farmers, who addressed at the dharna, poured out their woes against the land acquisition and wanted the government to exempt the riverfront villages from land acquisition.
“We want a praja rajadhani and not a corporate capital. The government is trying to kick out lungi clad farmers from their lands and hand over their lands to companies from Singapore and Japan,” said Krishna, a farmer from Nidamarru.
Farmers came down heavily on government’s false claims on the lands. “Our lands produce three crops a year and many people are eking their livelihood on just one acre. Why does Mr. Naidu need so much land for capital? asked Jayamma, a land owner from Nidamarru.
