District Collector Babu A. on Monday instructed the Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer to stop increments and take appropriate departmental action against Mandal Parishad Development Officers of Gudivada urban, Machilipatnam urban, Nandivada and Tiruvuru mandals for dereliction of duty while disbursing pensions.

In a video-conference on Monday, Mr. Babu said pension payments were getting delayed at various places as less than the stipulated number of staff were sent to villages. “Pensions are to be delivered at the doorstep of identified beneficiaries,” he added.

Mr. Babu further said officials of the Civil Supplies Department had been ordered to supply essential commodities through the e-POS (electronic – point of sale) system before the 10th of every month. “0There are 12,24,353 card-holders in the district, and a concerted effort has to be made to implement the Public Distribution System in letter and spirit,” he added.

Joint Collector G. Chandrudu was present.
