August 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 05:45 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

All petrol pumps in the State will remain closed for one day from August 30 midnight seeking withdrawal of VAT and surcharge on fuel.

Petrol bunk owners in association with truck operators had called for an indefinite strike in the past but suspended their plans after the government constituted a Cabinet sub-committee to discuss the issues.

The issue pertains to two demands -- withdrawal of Rs.4 tax being collected in addition to 22.25 p.c. VAT on a litre of diesel and 31 p.c. on a litre of petrol along with withdrawal of VAT on transportation charge of oil tankers have not be resolved.
