Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday launched a broadside against the YSR Congress, accusing it of obstructing development of the State and, insisted that the problems caused by bifurcation could be overcome only when all parties cooperated with him.
On its part, the Central government has to undo the injustice meted to Andhra Pradesh by the Congress in the form of bifurcation. “No Chief Minister had to plead with the Central government for help as other States had benefited from the Finance Commission and they did not face the type of situation we are now mired in,” he observed.
Welcoming West Godavari district YSRC president and former Minister Kothapalli Subbarayudu into the TDP here, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has been trying to hinder construction of the Capital city, the Polavaram project and obstructing many other things just for the sake of troubling the ruling party. “The YSRC and Congress have colluded with each other to corner the TDP but I will not allow their conspiracy to succeed,” he observed.
About efforts being made to construct the Capital city, Mr. Naidu said some politicians questioned whether such a big capital was required but he was convinced that unless A.P had a capital on the lines of what Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have, it could not become a progressive State.
He said he has represented the plight of A.P on account of the problems caused by bifurcation and successive droughts and floods, to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, and hoped they would bail out the State. The Chief Minister said people voted for development in the four States where Assembly election results were declared on Thursday and he was as committed to people’s welfare and development as the parties that won the people’s mandate in those States.
