Kanchi seers to stay in city for two months

Kanchi chief seer Jayendra Saraswati will observe his chaturmasya vrata in the city from July 19 to September 16.

Kanchi Kamakothi peetham pontiff Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati will also observe his chaturmasya in the city along with the chief seer.

This is first time that the Kanchi seers are observing the chaturmasya in the city.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple committee chairman Maganti Subrahmanyam said that the seers’ visit coincide with ensuing river Krishna pushkarams.

The 82{+n}{+d}avatara dina utsava , birthday of Sri Jayendra Saraswati, would also be celebrated on July 22 during their stay in the city. Special puja, homam, parayana, namasankirtana etc., would be performed as part of the celebrations, he said.

Mr. Subrahmanyam said that during chaturmasya, thrice daily regular puja of Maha Tripura Sundari along with the yoga linga chandramouleeswara would be performed.
