Dasara to be made State festival

The State government will organise the Dasara festival at the Sri Durga alleswara Swamyvarla Devasthaanam as a State festival from this year, according to temple Executive Officer (EO) Ch. Narsing Rao.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Mr. Rao said the government would issue a GO in this regard shortly. The budget for the festival would be known once the GO is issued, he said.

He added that the temple had made arrangements for ‘Chandi Homam’ during the festival. Devotees interested in participating in the ‘homam’ at the Yagasala near Sivalayam would have to pay Rs. 3,000. Likewise, Laksha kumkum archana would also be performed at Bhavani deeksha mandapam. The devotees would have to pay Rs.3,000 to take part.
