Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu surprised the Heads of Departments (HoDs) by reading out the public perception survey at HoDs meeting on Tuesday. He minced no words in expressing his displeasure over poor ratings given to a few departments and perception of the public.
He also cautioned the revenue and police departments which got poor rating due to corruption. The public opinion on these two departments has not been changing for many years now. While 45 per cent people opined that the corruption has increased in the Revenue department, 13.7 per cent people say there is an increase in corruption in the police department. And, 7.5 per cent people have felt an increase in corruption in the medical and health department, he said.
The Chief Minister suggested the officials to improve their performance and see that 30 to 40 per cent respondents, who gave ‘OK’ mark, would give a ‘good rating.’ The survey was carried out with three parameters — good, ok and bad. Forty to fifty per cent were satisfied with the governance. And, 20 per cent said the governance was bad. Efforts should be made to bring the OK category people into good, and those who felt the governance was bad to OK, he said. Though 87 per cent of respondents reportedly said the governance was good, the public perception on the NTR Vaidya seva was 81 per cent, but the DWCRA loan waiver, a poll promise, got only 16 per cent. Anther poll promise, farm loan waiver scheme, however, received good marks with 63.87 per cent respondents expressing their satisfaction.
Likewise, for the e-Pos 44.77 percent people expressed satisfaction. Seventy four per cent people expressed concern over finger prints system. Chandranna Beema scheme won the confidence of 73 per cent people. On govt’s sand policy, 80.5 per cent expressed happiness.
