Actor and Rajya Sabha member K. Chiranjeevi has demanded that a CBI inquiry be ordered into the Tuni arson.
In a press release on Saturday, he condemned the arrest of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, who, Mr. Chiranjeevi said, had been fighting for the fulfilment of the TDP’s election-eve promises.
Mr. Chiranjeevi sought to know why the Chief Minister ordered the arrest of scores of people from the Godavari districts, having earlier said that all those who resorted to violence in Tuni hailed from Rayalaseema.
Stating that the conduct of the police towards Mr. Padmanabham was objectionable, he demanded that Mr. Naidu explain the reasons for his confrontationist attitude.
