Three Bobbili ‘rajas’ joined Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Wednesday.

YSR Congress Bobbili MLA R. V. Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao along with his brothers, R. Sweta Chalapati Ranga Rao, popularly known as Baby Nayina, and R. Ramakrishna Rao, and their followers crossed over to Telugu Desam Party amid fanfare. The Chief Minister welcomed the Bobbili zamindars by offering a yellow scarfs to them.

On the occasion, Mr. Naidu assured that the government would take all steps to develop Vizianagaram district. There was no dearth of tanks, streams, and ponds in Vizianagaram district.

All we need to do is channel the water availability to boost the agriculture. The government would construct check dams apart from constructing the pending irrigation projects, he said.

Mr. Naidu said that the government has planned the Bogapuram airport for the development of Vizianagaram. Once the airport was completed, the development would take place rapidly. Industry and service sectors would come up thus generating employment.

Both Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram would become twin districts due to the development, he said.

The Bobbili MLA said he underwent the ordeal of opposing the development works being taken up by the government.

But, being in Opposition party it was a compulsion.

Secondly, the development works came to a grinding halt. Though funds were sanctioned and released, some of the works progressed on snail’s pace, he said.

Mr. Baby Nayina said that they would strengthen the party in Vizianagaram district.

Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapati Raju, Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa, Education Minister Ghanta Srinivas Rao, Rural Development Minister Kimidi Mrinalini, Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao, TDP state president Kala Venkat Rao, Bobbili incharge Tentu Lakshmi Naidu and others were present.
