Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Saturday said an action plan to bring down the number of road accidents would be in place at the district-level by October 1.
Addressing a review meeting here on Saturday, the Minister said the Superintendent of Police, the Deputy Transport Commissioner and the Superintending Engineer (R&B wing) woul coordinate and implement the action plan.
Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao proposed strict implementation of helmet rule in all district headquarters, and the Minister responded favourably to it.
He said an impact study on rectification of over 800 black spots was in progress in each of the 13 districts.
An awareness campaign involving owners of autorickshaw, police department and other stakeholders would also launched to address the menace of over-loading of auto-rickshaws, he said.
The officials decided to utilise the zonal training centres of the APSRTC to test the driving skills of people aspiring for driving licences by the Transport Department.
