Pawan Kalyan to be face of handlooms in AP, Telangana

Actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has consented to be the face of the handloom industry in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

According to a release by the party, representatives of the AP Chenetha Karmika Sangham (AP Handloom Workers’ Union) and Telangana Chenetha Akhila Paksha Aikya Vedika (Handloom weavers’ All Party JAC) met Mr. Pawan at his party office in Hyderabad and explained the issues being faced by handloom workers in both the States. They told Mr. Pawan that about 45 weavers of Telangana had committed suicide in the last two and a half years. Members of both the associations, led by All India Handloom Board member K.S. Murthy, requested him to be the brand ambassador for the industry and also take part in the ‘Chenetha Satyagraham’ and ‘Padmasali Garjana’ to be held in Mangalagiri next month.

Mr. Pawan who agreed to their requests said that he would extend all support to help the weavers in the Telugu States.
