Iyakkam resolves to fight for prohibition

The Satta Panchayat Iyakkam has planned to organise an agitation on August 25 in front of the collectors’ offices across Tamil Nadu to press the government to implement prohibition in the State. A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the volunteers of the Iyakkam who planned to organise an anti-liquor campaign across the State.

Another resolution urged the State government to enforce total prohibition by 2016 well before the election to Legislative Assembly.

The Iyakkam would organise district-level meetings for mobilising the support of anti-liquor volunteersAgitation would be launched at shops which hinder the safety of people . Senthil Arumugam, general secretary, told presspersons that the Iyakkam would launch an intensive campaign mobilising the support of the masses for the anti-liquor movement.
