Farm labourer murdered

May 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - TIRUCHI:

T. Ramajayam, 51, a labourer, was murdered at Kuzhumani on the city’s outskirts on Saturday when he was riding a two-wheeler to an agricultural field.

Police are on the look out for the accused K. Mahamuni (36) and his relative R. Vignesh (18) in connection with the murder. The two bore a grudge against Ramajayam after he tendered evidence as a prosecution witness leading to the conviction of K. Rajendran, the father of Vignesh. Rajendran involved in a murder case in 2013 was sentenced to life and put behind bars. Subsequently, he died in the jail. The conviction and death of Rajendran reportedly angered his younger brother Mahamuni and son Vignesh who bore a grudge against Ramajayam. Police said the accused waylaid Ramajayam while he was riding a motorcycle and murdered him.

The Jeeyapuram police have registered a case.
