Exhibition of coins, currencies and stamps on in Tiruchirapalli

Coins, currency notes and postal stamps of yesteryears to the present are in display at an exhibition.

Organised by Notaphily Society of Tiruchi, it features about 30 stalls displaying currency notes and coins of over 150 countries. Collectors, young and old, have displayed their exhibits, offering interesting insights into the history of various countries, P. Vijayakumar, founder-president of the society, said that notaphily was the study and collection of currencies. D.Udayakumar, who designed the symbol of the Indian rupee, made a presentation on how he went about finalising the design, meeting the specifications. J. Rolands Nelson, secretary, South India Philatelists’ Association, and others participated in the inaugural.

Dealers of coins, currencies and antiques have also put up stalls at the exhibition which will be open at Rajeswari Hall in Oorvasi Theatre Complex near Chathram Bus Stand till Sunday.
