A section of students of E.V. Ramasamy College staged a sit in protest on the campus on Friday, protesting against the delay over distribution of scholarship to the Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes (SC/ST) students.

The students, who boycotted the classes, raised slogans demanding the disbursal of scholarship meant for 2015-16. They said that though they were at the fag end of the academic year they were yet to get the scholarship.

On information, Revenue and Adi Dravidar welfare officials rushed to the spot and held negotiations with them.

Since they refused to give up the agitation, the officials took the matter to the authorities in Chennai.

However, some of the students received SMS on credit of scholarship to their bank accounts when the negotiations were on.

Following this, the protestors withdrew the protest.
