The hunger strike by Youth Congress activists against the agreement between the State government and private medical college managements entered its sixth day on Sunday. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, 10 protesters staged a Shayanapradakshinam in front of the Secretariat, where the strike is being staged. The protest was inaugurated by S.K. Arthanari, general secretary, Indian Youth Congress. “The agitation will continue till the government heeds our demands,” he said.

The protesters burned effigies of the Chief Minister and the Education and Health Ministers at 6 p.m. This was followed by a scuffle with the police, who dispersed the protesters using water cannons.
