VS demands inquiry by Central agency

February 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has demanded a probe by Central agencies against Vigilance Director N. Sankar Reddy and also against Vigilance Superintendent of Police R. Sukesan who probed the bar bribery case.

Mr. Achuthanandan said in a statement here on Saturday that one could doubt that Mr. Reddy’s recommendation for a Crime Branch probe against Mr. Sukesan was part of a conspiracy to divert public attention from the court verdicts and observations against the government. He accused Mr. Reddy of acting according to the whims and fancies of United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders. This was unbecoming of his position. This also gives an answer to the government decision to appoint him as Director ignoring the claims of DGPs who had a claim for the post. He demanded a probe against Mr. Reddy to find out whether there was a conspiracy behind the decision.
