The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed that officials who are trained in comprehending and communicating with deaf-mute, blind and other disabled or differently abled citizens should be included in the police force.
At Circle Inspector offices, at least one official who is trained in Braille language and the language used by deaf-mute should be present so that they could handle the complaints filed by the differently abled persons, SHRC member K. Mohankumar, said.
Special facilities should be set up at the district-level to evaluate and settle the complaints which come under the purview of the Persons with Disabilities Act of 1995, Mr. Mohankumar said.
