Urgent repairs to the structure of the Napier Museum here will get under way soon.

The work, scheduled to be taken up in April, has been beset by procedural delays, but things seem to be moving along after talks were held between Archaeology Director G. Prem Kumar and Museums and Zoo Director K. Gangadharan recently.

It was decided that the work would be taken up by the Museum under the guidance of the Archaeology department.

The Archaeology department has drawn up a panel of three contractors who are competent to undertake the work and a report has been submitted to the Museum authorities.

The engineers of the contractors will conduct a site visit under the supervision of an Archaeology engineer on Wednesday, and estimates will be submitted to the Museum authorities.

Work will be awarded to the contractor who quotes the lowest amount.

Payment will be made on the basis of the estimate submitted by the Archaeology engineer after completion of the work.

The repairs are expected to be completed before June 1.
