Rajaji Nagar inspected ahead of upgrade

A group of citizens under the leadership of Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi chairman P. Gopinathan conducted a tour of Chenkalchoola (now Rajaji Nagar) on Sunday to understand the ground reality ahead of the launch of a programme to transform the colony into a model settlement by improving sanitation and drinking water facilities, and creating awareness on drug abuse.

Mr. Gopinathan; Vicar General of Latin Archdiocese Eugene H. Pereira; general secretary, Kerala Khateebs and Quasi forum Pachalloor Abdul Saleem Moulavi; head of Ekalavya Ashram Swami Aswathi Thirunal; secretary, Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi K.G. Jagadheesan; and president of FRAT Maruthankuzhi Satheesh visited the colony.

Representative of Chenkalchoola Gandhi Mithramandalam Sunil Kulathunkal said a report on the condition of the colony would be submitted to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister. A committee comprising 101 members had been formed to carry forward the model colony programme.
