Chandy flays Kodiyeri

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has come down heavily on CPI (M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for his call for Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala’s resignation since the fireworks disaster was the fallout of police inaction. Briefing the media, he pointed out that Mr. Balakrishnan was the Home Minister when the Pulmedu stampede and the Thekkady boat tragedy occurred, he wanted to know if the United Democratic Front had made any such demand at the time.

Instead of raising such demands, what the UDF did was to join the then Left Democratic Front government in the rescue and relief work, he added.
