June 07, 2014 12:00 pm | Updated 12:00 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Communist Party of India (Marxist) district unit secretary Kadakampally Surendran has said that the Revenue Minister should be included among those being investigated, including the Chief Minister’s former gunman Salim Raj, by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Kadakampally land scam.

In a statement here, Mr. Surendran said the decision not to collect land tax from the land owners here, that too without any government order, was suspicious.

The role of the Revenue Minister’s personal assistant in the scam was being probed, Mr. Surendran said, adding that the Minister and his entire office too should be investigated.

Mr. Surendran demanded that the government immediately issue an order enabling land owners in the area to pay their land tax.
