Privilege notice against CM

July 21, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:49 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Congress MLA P.T. Thomas has given notice seeking action against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for breach of privileges of the Assembly.

In a press note here on Wednesday, Mr. Thomas said he had given the notice as the Chief Minister had failed to inform the House about High Court lawyer M.K. Damodaran not to take up the post of legal adviser to the Chief Minister even after the Additional Advocate General communicated the information to the High Court.

The Chief Minister had failed to keep the House posted about the lawyer’s decision despite having had sufficient time to do so. This amounted to disrespect to the House and breach of privileges of the House, Mr. Thomas said.
