: Minister for Public Works G. Sudhakaran on Saturday carried out a surprise inspection of the busy Oachira-Cherthala stretch of National Highway 66 that has become non-motorable due to potholes.

The Minister, who travelled in his official car on the stretch, found over 1,000 potholes. As part of pre-monsoon works, the Public Works Department had filled the potholes and repaired bad stretches. But the roads had become unmotorable following the rain. Defects in the resurfacing had resulted in damage to the road.
