: The Sreekariyam police on Wednesday arrested and detained Deepu S. Kumar, an accused in various cases including murder cases, under provisions of the Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA).

According to Sheen Tharayil, Circle Inspector, Medical College, this was the second time that Deepu was being detained under KAAPA, after being detained for six months from October last year. However, on his release, it was found that he was indulging in criminal activities again, following which the police reported the matter to the District Collector, who issued the order for the second detention.

Deepu, who was jailed in connection with murder attempts and thefts earlier, was also involved in several assault, extortion and theft cases apart from being on the rowdy list of the Sreekariyam police station for quite some time.
