The Medical College police on Sunday arrested a 26-year-old woman on charge of masterminding a blackmail racket. Four persons were arrested on Friday for their alleged role in the racket.

Priya alias Anjali, who hails from Valathungal in Kollam, was arrested by a team led by Kazhakuttam Cyber City Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar. She is accused of luring a government employee to a rented house at Kumarapuram and taking photos for which he was forcibly stripped off his clothes and made to pose alongside women. The gang threatened to publicise the images through social media if he failed to give them Rs.5 lakh.

During interrogation, she allegedly admitted to have trapped eight other people with the assistance of her five accomplices. “Priya had introduced herself to the victims as Maya,” C. Binu Kumar, Circle Inspector, Medical College police, said.
