BJP activists gherao CAPE Director

July 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) ‘gheraoed’ the Director of the Cooperative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) here on Tuesday alleging that attempts were being made to effect “backdoor appointments” at the academy despite the existence of a rank list. A press note issued here said the CAPE director, in discussions held with BJYM president K.P. Prakash Babu and vice president R.S. Rajiv, had assured them that appointments to the academy would be stopped.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should make it clear whether such appointments were being made with his knowledge, the press note said. During the tenure of the previous UDF government, services of 59 temporary employees were regularised though there was a rank list, the press note said.
