Several Congress leaders, including Oscar Fernandes and B. Janardhana Poojary, on Tuesday condoled the sudden demise of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member Mohammed Badruddin (54).

Mr. Badruddin, who was on a visit to Bengaluru, died on Tuesday morning following reported low blood sugar. Though he was rushed to a hospital, he did not survive.

He was to meet former MLC Saleem Ahmed in Bengaluru.

Mr. Badruddin had been an active participant with the student Congress movement, National Students Union of India and was fondly known as “NSUI Mohammed.”

He lived in a rented house and dedicated himself completely to the Congress, the leaders said.

His demise is a great loss, mourned the leaders, including M. Veerappa Moily, B. Ramanath Rai, U.T. Khader, K. Abhayachandra Jain, J.R. Lobo, B.A. Mohiuddin Bawa, Shakuntala Shetty, Vasanth Bangera, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Ivan D’ Souza and others.

He would be laid to rest in his village Brahmarakootlu on Wednesday, said sources in the Congress.
