Dakshina Kannada recorded an average 2,512.5 mm rainfall from January to September 2 this year against 3,024 mm rainfall recorded during the same period last year. The average normal rainfall of the district from January to September is 3,573 mm.
Sri Krishna Jayanti on Saturday
The government will observe Sri Krishna Jayanti at government employees’ hall, Hampankatta, on September 5 at 2.30 p.m. District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai will inaugurate the programme.

Yakshagana artiste's birth centenary
Yakshagana artiste Keerikkadu Vishnu Bhat’s birth centenary series programme will be organised on September 6 at 3.30 p.m. at Gopala-krishna temple, Shakthi Nagar. Yakshagana artiste Surikumeri K. Govinda Bhat will be felicitated on the occasion. Later there will be a talamaddale Sharasetu Bandhana.
