September 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - MANGALURU:

Shyam Sundarshan Bhat, an advocate from Uppinangady in Dakshina Kannada district, filed a complaint on Tuesday accusing writer K.S. Bhagwan of speaking in a “demeaning way” about the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita in his speech rendered in Bengaluru on September 19.

These statements, reported in a local Kannada daily, have hurt him and other devout Hindus, said the complainant. Mr. Bhat sought action against Mr. Bhagwan under Sections 295 (A) and 153 (B) of the Indian Penal Code.

Sharanappa S.D., Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada, said the complaint relates to a speech given in Bengaluru, and so they took permission of the local magistrate for transfer of the case. Following permission, the case has been transferred to the High Grounds Police Station, Bengaluru, for further investigation, he said.
