Writers chosen for Tulu Ratna Award

Writers Amrut Someshwar and U.P. Upadhyaya have been chosen for the Tulu Ratna Award instituted by the Tuluvere Aayano Kooto. It will be given during the five-day Vishwa Tuluvere Aayano to be held in Badiyadka in Kasaragod district of Kerala from December 9.

Talking to presspersons here on Monday, kooto general secretary Rajesh Alva Badiyadka said the award would be presented on December 13. He said the award was in recognition of their contribution to literature. Mr. Rajesh said there would be a confluence of languages such as Tulu, Malayalam, Konkani, Marathi, Beary, Urdu, Kundagannada, Aregannada, Kodava and Havyaka during the event. There would be literary discussions on these languages.

There would be a discussion on ‘daivaradhane’ and agriculture issues too.

There would be Yakshagana Talamaddale, Yakshagana and dance programmes by troupes from Telangana, Bihar and Manipur. There would be local sport events such as ‘channe-mane’ and tying ‘akki mudi’, he added.
