Akki Muhurta of Palimar Mutt, which will take over as the Paryaya Mutt on January 18, 2018, will be held on the Car Street here on Friday.
The event will start at 8.35 a.m.
Akki Muhurta is the second of the preliminaries before the next Paryaya festival. Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Palimar Mutt will ascend the Paryaya Peetha on January 18, 2018.
It will be his second Paryaya.
The biennial Paryaya festival marks the change of authority from one mutt to another among the Ashta Mutts or eight mutts of Udupi for a period of two years each.
The Paryaya mutt gets the rights to worship Lord Krishna and manage the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple for two years.
