Woman SSI faints

A woman Special Sub-Inspector of Police, Esther Prema (48), fainted due to heat wave at the election meeting addressed by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Aruppukottai on Friday.

The police said that she fainted around 1.15 p.m. while on security duty and was rushed to Aruppukottai Government Hospital.

A 48-year-old woman, S. Sundari of Puliyampatti, fractured her hand after she fell down at the venue. She was also admitted to the GH.

Meanwhile, two persons were injured when a van in which they were proceeding to the AIADMK meeting venue collided with a truck at Kadaneri junction near Watrap on Friday.

The injured were A. Sivagami (45) and K. Sakthivel (2) of Maharajapuram. They were admitted to a private hospital.

Nathampatti police are investigating.
