Two killed in road accidents

Two persons were killed in different road accidents in the city on Wednesday.

In the first accident reported on Theni Main Road near Kalavasal, S. Pandiaraj (28) of Nagamalai Pudukottai was fatally knocked down by a speeding college bus coming from the opposite direction around 7.30 a.m. Despite wearing a helmet, the victim’s head was crushed under the wheels of the bus Bus driver S. Srinivasan (41) of Tiruppuvanam was arrested.

In the other accident, a youth, S. Muneeswaran, of Keeraithurai was killed after he went under the wheels of a State-run city bus near Tamil Nadu Polytechnic College. Police said that the youth tried to overtake the bus, proceeding towards Periyar bus stand from Tirumangalam, but got under the wheels and crushed to death on the spot.

Bus driver K. Jeyaseelan (35) of Nagamalai Pudukottai was arrested.
