Tamil Nadu Railway Police (TRP) personnel have begun a drive against ticketless travel and nuisance by drunk persons on railway platforms and trains. Instructed by TRP Additional Director General of Police Srilakshmi Prasad and Inspector General of Police Seema Agarwal, the Madurai unit began the drive on Monday. The TRP personnel rounded up 22 ticketless travellers in three passengers trains – Madurai-Rameswaram; Nagercoil-Coimbatore and Madurai-Shencottah – and handed them over to the travelling ticket examiners.

Similarly, four persons who were causing nuisance were booked. The drive, being monitored by Superintendent of Police (Railways) Annie Vijaya, would continue to check ticketless travel and nuisance to passengers.
